Lisa Fullagar is a Jewelry Designer too. But at that time I didn't consider myself a Designer just yet. She
told me that most of the pieces I'd been drooling on (of course I had to touch them), were created using the
Peyote Stitch. Well, I just had to learn how to do that. I guess Lisa got tired of me whining about wanting to
learn how to do Peyote( I can be a complete brat sometimes) and bought a book for me.  It is entitled
"Beading with Peyote Stitch", by the Beady Eyed Women.I still think she gave me the book to pacify me.
Wow, what an amazing time I had learning how to do that. I especially loved the technique were you create
circles, rectangles, squares and diamonds. There was a bracelet created by stitching these shapes together
but since I didn't make bracelets, back then, I created a necklace instead. Once I had my shapes created from
seed beads ranging in sizes from 14 to 06, I stitched them together and created the base. Then I was in
my
element, I embellished the base with, you guessed it, Beaded Embroidery. This pieces is also composed
using  Amethyst and  Sterling Silver leaves, a Milli flori bead, fresh water pearls, czech pressed glass and
seed beads. Its length is 26in. After it was finished, I proudly showed her my first "Art" piece created using
the Peyote stitch. Boy, was Lisa
surprised.  Dyane
"I want to learn how to
do THAT!", I
lamented over and over
as I moved through the
crowds of people
attending  bead shows
in Tucson, AZ. It was
the first time I'd ever
attended the bead
shows and my first time
in the company of
people who'd created
those Wearable Art
pieces I had seen in the
Beading Magazines.
How did they do that? I
asked my friend Lisa.
