another beautiful Dichroic
bead by my friend Karen
Varela (Karen Nan Designs).
The vision I had for this piece
led me to use it horizontally
rather than vertically as Karen
had intended. I started this and
the others of this series with       
                                  bases. The
bases were connected to the
Dichroic beads and then the
leaf.  
Victorian Garden Series
The same thread I use to connect the original bases is used to start the Beaded Embroidery. Its important for me to have
as few knots in my work as possible, so I start with a longer piece of thread. Some people find it frustrating because it can
get tangled easier but I do it anyway. It is important that my pieces be durable and this is one of the ways I try to accomplish
that. This color combination appears frequently in my work because it reminds me of picking raspberries with my
grandmother. Its wonderful how things that are close to our hearts or experience in our lives, inspire us. This composition
includes, the Dichroic beads (Karen Varela & Paula Radke), a Vermil leaf & extender clasp (Sterling Silver plated with
22kt. Gold),  Swarovski Crystals, Czech pressed glass and seed beads. The extender clasp insures that this piece will fit
anyone. Power-Pro beading thread was used for the embroidery (10lb.) and base (20lb.). Dyane
