Bracelets (Page Two)
The Victorian Garden Series was created because of something a friend said to me. She said " I love your
necklaces but if I'm wearing one everyone gets to enjoy how beautiful it is but me!". I considered what she said and
decided it was time to start making bracelets. Sometimes its hard to step out of my comfort zone but realized the
time had come.
These bracelets, like the Victorian Garden Series Necklaces start with a beaded base created using the
technique. I prefer a beaded base rather than beading on fabric the way other Artists do
because it adds another layer of interest. When you look at my bracelets, you will  appreciate the added layer of
color peeking through the embellishments.
There is a magazine entitled "Victoria", which focuses on the beauty and splendor of the "Victorian Era". One of
my favorite features are the photos of gardens created in the "English Country" style. These gardens were the
inspiration for this series. I prefer the more natural style of gardening, with flowers growing wildly, verses the "Formal
Garden". Many customers say these bracelets make them feel as if they are wearing "little gardens". That is how I
stay focused on each piece, by creating individual gardens based on the colors I'm inspired to use. The beaded
base is my canvas, seed beads are the paint and a technique called Beaded Embroidery is the brush I use to
create the flora and fauna for each of my gardens.
Sometimes, I follow my creative muse down a slightly different path and add beaded ruffles(R) to a piece. The
beaded ruffle can be a challenge because you have to stay focused on your bead count and where they go or the
whole thing will go flat. If that happens, I have to take it apart, find the spot where I dropped a bead and do it all over
again! Its the same issue you have when you are knitting or crocheting. I lie to add 2mm (tiny) Swarovski Crystal to
my ruffles and they add just the right amount of twinkle. When you see (R) next to the name a piece, you will know
there has been a ruffle added. It takes longer to create these pieces and I use more supplies, that is why they are
more expensive. All embellishments include Swarovski Crystals(different shapes), Czech pressed glass and seed
beads. Power-Pro beading thread for the base(20lb.) and embellishments(10lb.). Soft Touch beading wire was
used where the clasp is connected. An extender clasp is used on all the bracelets to enable them to fit any wrist.
