My creative journey began at
my mothers kitchen table. I
usually played there while she
cooked.
From crayons and then oil
paints, I moved on to
crocheting, knitting and
sewing. I used to make all my
clothes and would make things
for my friends if they
purchased the materials. At
the forefront of my creativity
was what I believed to be a
promising dance career.
Unfortunately the dancing
career was taken from me and
I was left with trying to find a
different path for myself. At
long last it has lead me here
and I am happy creating
Unique Hand-crafted

Down the Beaded Path- How I started Making Jewelry
One Sunday afternoon while walking off a hearty lunch in a local shopping area, I wondered into a
Bead Store for the first time. It had recently opened and being a life-long crafter, I just couldn't resist
the call of the creative energy flowing out its door. My boyfriend and I wondered through the store,
intrigued not only by the beads but by the Jewelry someone had created with them. "You could do
this" He said. I laughed because I thought he was joking.  "Why would I want to" I replied. I  had never
been much of a Jewelry person and had never shown any interest in making jewelry. He said because I
was creative, detail oriented, and paid special attention to the way I coordinated my outfits, I could
design and create Jewelry. I stopped laughing!
I became addicted to the creative process as a child and never looked back. My creativity has been my
drug of choice and constant companion all my life.I love tapping into that energy whenever and wherever
I can. I have always been the kind of person who gets bored easily and have learned to combat that by
leaving myself open to following my Muse. I'll go back to the story now, when I mentioned his
suggestion to my friend Karen and she was as intrigued as I was. We decided it was time to go on a
little road trip and explore other Bead Stores. There was a larger store in a nearby town so after
feeding ourselves, in we went and "the rest", as they say "is history!".
As I wondered through this store my mind began to fill with visions of necklaces I could
create using these beads,WOW. I bought
some of the beads I was inspire to use for my first
necklaces and anxiously sat through what had to be one of the longest rides home in history.
I made 3 necklaces and couldn't wait to share them, so off they went with me to a Doctor's
appointment and stayed there. When the receptionist asked about the
pretty necklace I had
on, I told her about my new hobby and showed her the other two (yes, I had them with me). She asked if
they could look at them while I saw the Doctor and asked
how much them were? I was taken aback by
the question, I had never considered
selling them. So, like lots of other beginners I gave a price that
was too low, $10 and went in to see the Doctor. When I came out she gave me $30.00. "What's this
for?" I asked. "The necklaces" She laughed. After I got my mouth off the floor, I said "Thank you"
and floated out of there. I had never made anything and sold it before, what a rush. I still get that same
feeling when I sell a piece.
